Palau Spectacular The whole Go Dive team recently returned from an incredible trip to Palau. After a few warm-up (literally, straight from an English winter) dives in Anilao, we flew by Continental Airways from Manila direct to Palau. The diving was nothing short of spectacular – we dived the famous & classic dives, such as Blue Corner, German Channel, Blue Hole, Jellyfish Lake & so on. The only one we missed was Pelleliu Express, due to the fierce tides. Next time! Our abiding memory will be of a huge baitball being herded & then sliced up by 7 Grey Reef Sharks. Or perhaps of hanging on reef hooks at Blue Corner, watching literally hundreds of Grey Reefs & Whitetips swim past within a few metres of us! After our week in Palau, we returned to Manila, then spent a couple of days diving the wrecks of Subic Bay – only to see a couple of Bull Sharks on a wreck for the first time! A trip to be remembered – and to be repeated next year.
New Liveaboard for Cebu!
Our friend Bill Hilditch had a vision. Using a 110ft teak hull used originally to ferry San Miguel beer to the islands, he has built a liveaboard almost entirely from hardwoods cut on his own Mango Plantations. The finished result is spectacular. Jan & Robert visited his Cebu boatyard in early February to see what progress he had made, and were amazed to find the final fitting-out well underway. This has been designed by divers for divers – it is going to be a great boat to live in & to dive from. Hopefully sea-trials will begin in April, & we will then start taking bookings for dive trips round the Visayas & to Apo Reef. Fly out direct to Cebu, & combine it with a shore based holiday in one of our recommended resorts such as Sampaguita or Oasis (Seaquest). We’ll let you have more details as they become available.
Dear Fellow Diver,
We started up Go Dive Philippines after searching the world for the ideal tropical scuba holiday. Then we found the Philippines! With its 7107 islands, 40,000 sq km of unspoilt coral reefs, friendly english speaking peoples, wonderful food – what else does the adventurous diver need? We have set up our own dive tour company, based in the Philippines, with highly qualified local employees. Our aim is two-fold: to give you an adventure tour of some of our exotic dive resorts (using local accommodation and sampling local cuisine), and to give them the direct benefits of tourist income - to be used within local communities and to help protect the local marine environment.
Warning: if you dive with us, you will experience real Filipino culture, real Filipino people, real Filipino accommodation, and real Filipino food! You may not want to leave...
